5/28/2015: Results of 2nd Beta

I am no longer pregnant. My levels actually dropped today. I kind of figured this was the case when I got a stark white BFN last night on a FRER. That didn't make it any easier, though.

I am devastated. This baby was so wanted. We're good people and we can afford to support a baby. Why couldn't this have just worked out for us?

Looks like we'll be trying starting Cycle #4 in a few days.

5/26/2015: Beta Results

I just got the call from Dr. K's office...I'm pregnant.

I could tell something was up, though, because the nurse sounded like she had just told me it was negative. Turns out my beta level is only 6.1 today. A level of 5 or higher confirms pregnancy. Since my level is so close to the cutoff, she told me to not get my hopes up too high. I think realistically optimistic were her words.

They want to re-check the level on Thursday. The number should at least double by then.

Please stick little bean. We want you so badly.

5/25/2015: Home Pregnancy Test(s)

Well, I am at 13 days past IUI (dpiui) today. My beta is tomorrow in the morning.

I took a First Response Early Result first thing today with my first morning urine (FMU). There was a faint double line as you may be able to see from the picture below. Needless to say, I freaked out. J was still sleeping so I decided to just keep calm and wait to retest. Unfortunately, I dumped out my cup of FMU before the test had developed.

I held my urine for 4 hours (was hoping for longer, but couldn't make it) and took a First Response Gold Digital test. These tests just say "Yes+" or "No-" and nothing more. Well, mine said "No-" and I felt like I just had been punched in the gut. I'm not sure if my urine was too diluted or if I'm just not pregnant.

Part of me wishes I waited to take the digital with tomorrow morning's FMU, but I'm not sure it would have mattered. A lot of my research online has shown that the digital tests need a much high level of HCG to detect pregnancy than the non-digitals. I'm probably going to take another FRER or digital test, but I haven't really decided since HCG doubles every 30-72 hours. Not enough time will have passed for the line to be any darker.

So...I could be pregnant? Maybe?

5/16/2015: Progesterone Bloodwork

Great news!! My blood-work came back at 5.5---OVULATION IS CONFIRMED!

It's still not high enough to sustain a potential pregnancy (10 or higher) so I'm back on supplements. This time around the RE's office gave me Endometrium samples. Though, it's weird to shove a tablet in my hoo-ha, it's much less messy than the Crinone or compounded progesterone.

Beta pregnancy test is scheduled for May 26th. I will probably test the day before with a First Response so I'm not blindsided by potentially bad news at work. Unfortunately, I can't take the day off just in case I need to mope around which is exactly what happened the last two cycles.

5/12/2015: IUI #3

The scan this morning showed that the egg has been released.

IUI #3 was like a mix of 1 and 2. It wasn't as long or as difficult as #2, but it was also not as easy as #1. My cervix was a bit difficult, but a longer speculum fixed that problem.

J was able to make it to this one, too! She hasn't witnessed one yet. The nurse even let her push the plunger which was awesome. So if this works, J is excited to tell people that she impregnated me since it's technically true.

Here are the numbers for the sperm:
--39.2 million count
--48% motility
--.4ml volume
--9.4 million motile sperm

The sample wasn't as strong as the one for #2, but this one was also a week older. We just need one sperm to make it happen. Fingers crossed.

Progesterone test is scheduled for this Saturday morning. We decided to delay the beta rather than do it early (because of Memorial Day) so that is scheduled for Tuesday, 5/26. The nurse made a good point about low beta numbers being more stressful, but not necessarily meaning anything is wrong.

5/11/2015: Waiting for the Egg

The ultrasound this morning showed that my follicle is now at 24mm and the lining is at 16mm. The tech mentioned that she sees a mark on the follicle which is a textbook indication of ovulation within the next 24 hours. I can't remember the name of the mark, but the resident that was in the room agreed.

IUI #3 will likely be tomorrow.

5/9/2015: Mid-Cycle Scan

J was able to come back for the first time to see the ultrasound today so that was good.

What's also good is that I have a 9.7mm lining and a 21mm follicle!!! That is the biggest one I've ever had. Looks like the 5mg of Letrozole worked better for me.

Since they aren't open tomorrow (Sunday) I will trigger tomorrow morning instead of this evening. IUI #3 may be Monday.

I hope we don't miss the egg!
